plicity-1.0.6 (R7887, 2009/11/20) ZIP-file, 3.11 MB – hosted on sourceforge.net Older releases and further download mirrors are available at the Sourceforge.net PLICITY site. Requirements PLICITY requires the following software components to be installed on the target server: 1. Apache web server (Apache2 recommended) 2. PHP 5.24+ 3. MySQL 4.1.1+ / MySQL 5.0.45+ server 4. One MySQL database (shared database possible) In addition, the following extensions / modules are required for the PLICITY system to run properly: 1. Apache mod_rewrite module (recommended) 2. MySQL and XML support (PHP) 2. gdlib with full support for freetype, jpeg, gif and png (PHP) PLICITY is platform-independent and runs on more or less any operating system that is equipped with a standard Apache environment. It has been tested on various Linux and UNIX platforms (running Apache2 web servers) such as Fedora Core, Debian, Ubuntu and OS X. Installation PLICITY comes with an automatic installer. After unpacking the files of the downloaded package, please copy the whole PLICITY branch to the target server using FTP or SSH file transfer. Then, simply enter the URL of the target address into your web browser, append /install and follow the instructions.
For detailed installation instructions, please see the INSTALLING file shipped with the downloadable release packages. You will also find the preset password in that file. Note: Please ensure that the target directory of the server you install PLICITY on is writable for the Apache/PHP user. Also the "content" directory and all files in it have to be writable, so that the program can run properly. Updating From version 0.9.5b on PLICITY contains a mechanism for updating databases of earlier versions. Updating works for all prior versions starting from 0.9.4b. To update an existing PLICITY installation, please overwrite all files from all directories except the subdirectories of the 'content' directory. The database update will run automatically as soon as you log in to the updated system the first time. For security reasons, please create a database backup (using i.e. phpMyAdmin) before peforming the update. Note: If you have purchased a customized version of PLICITY, please update a running system only with the permission of your distributor. Customized distributions may differ strongly from the official PLICITY branch and updating may thus cause severe problems (including data loss). Compatibility The PLICITY administration interface is compatible to the following browsers:
